With over 25 years of practice, Ralph still approaches each project as a unique challenge, a new opportunity to create for his clients their vision. By understanding the restaurant experience from both the guest’s perspective and client’s operationally goals, his team is able to craft unique design solutions while keeping a mindful eye on operations and budgets. This highly-creative and provocative design approach has resulted in many successful restaurant, health spa, hotel/ casino, retail, and commercial projects. His thorough understanding of restaurant development, leasing, branding, operations, and management helps insure success and longevity.

Ralph’s restaurant design experiences ranges from formal elegance to authentic ethnic to cravable fast-casual. He has worked with many of Los Angeles’ best-known chef-owners and restaurant groups. Recently completed work includes The Source Café, Remodeling of both Sushi Roku and Boa Steakhouse, Santa Monica, Roku Sunset, Vespiao Downtown LA, Sushi Roku – Fashion Island, Angelina Pizzeria Los Olivios, and 800 Degrees Pizza. Successful past projects include Sadie Kitchen and Lounge, Red O Hollywood, Next Door by Josie, Bel Air Bar and Grill, Georgetown Cupcake, Caffe Roma, Ago Los Angeles, Toscanova, Beachwood Brewery & BBQ, Truxton’s American Bistro, Le Colonial, and the original Nobu in Malibu. Also, Gus’s Barbecue, Bar Pintxo, Josie Restaurant, The Farm of Beverly Hills @ LA Live, and Mexicali Cucina & Cantina.

Currently Ralph Gentile • Archtiects is completing a new 5,500 square foot Ostro/Ceila in Walnut Creek.

Several of RGA designs are located in casinos and hotels. In Las Vegas, projects include Morel’s French Bistro and Steakhouse, The Palazzo Casino; Dragon Noodle Co. and d.vino, Monte Carlo Casino; and Ago Restaurant and AJ’s, The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. In California, his work include Mama’s Cucina Italiana, The Oak Room, The Pala Café, Noodles, and Papa’s Coffee in the Pala Casino and Resort, Northern San Diego County; and the C2 Steak House, Loco Caliente, Oak Creek Café, and The Bluepoint located in Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, California.

RGA spa designs can be found within notable hotels and casinos including the Bliss Spa at the W Hotel in both Westwood and West Hollywood; the Pala Health Spa, Pala Casino Hotel and Resort; Body Rock, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa; The Rock Spa, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas; and the Spa at Silverton Casino, Las Vegas. Mr. Gentile served as consultant for the Raffles/Amrita spa brand and Kerstin Florian International, a luxury spa products company.

In addition to restaurants and spas, RGA creates hotel rooms and public spaces. His past work includes The Hard Rock Hotel in Tampa, featuring his designs in 250 luxury guest suites. He also completed 200 hotel guest rooms, suites, and hotel reception at Pala Casino Hotel and Resort.

His retail work comprises the Replay Country Stores in New York and Los Angeles; Diego Della Valle/J.P.Todd’s in Beverly Hills; and J. Crew, Los Angeles.

He appeared on a segment of THE TODAY SHOW interviewed by Mike Taibbi to discuss the trend of ‘too loud’ restaurants and address some possible solutions for the industry.

Mr. Gentile’s work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and New York, and published in THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES, HOSPITALITY DESIGN MAGAZINE, LOS ANGELES MAGAZINE, DESIGN BUREAU, INTERIORS, PROGRESSIVE ARCHITECTURE.

A licensed California architect with his own firm since 1989, Mr. Gentile earned a Master of Architecture from UCLA and a Bachelor Environmental Studies from Antioch College. His teaching experiences include Adjunct Assistant Professor at the USC, School of Architecture, and visiting faculty at ASU.
